Watai Implements Distributed Solar Power System to Strengthen Renewable Energy Deployment and Advance Low-Carbon Manufacturing Goals

In response to the global push for net-zero emissions and increasing pressure from supply chain decarbonization, Hotai Industry will officially implement a distributed solar photovoltaic (PV) system starting in Q2 2025. This marks a major step in the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable governance through the active deployment of renewable energy.

The project covers the rooftop of a newly constructed facility, where a total of 976 high-efficiency PV panels will be installed. Under standard sunlight conditions, the system is expected to generate 100% of the facility’s annual electricity consumption. By adopting alocal generation for on-site consumption strategy, the company enhances energy autonomy and improves power dispatch efficiency while reducing reliance on conventional electricity sources.

Furthermore, Hotai will apply for Taiwan Renewable Energy Certificates (T-REC) to obtain traceable and credible proof of green energy use. These certificates will serve as formal documentation for renewable energy consumption in the company’s carbon inventories and ESG reports, thereby reinforcing the scientific basis and international recognition of its carbon management efforts.

This solar initiative is more than a standalone energy-saving measure; it is a core strategic move to reduce Scope 2 carbon emissions and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon model. The project aligns with the ISO 50001 Energy Management System and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) recommendations for renewable energy adoption, enhancing Hotai’s sustainability competitiveness in serving downstream clients and global brands.

Looking ahead, Hotai will continue to expand its green energy footprint and explore the integration of energy storage systems and energy management systems (EMS). The goal is to build a forward-looking green manufacturing framework that delivers both economic value and environmental sustainability.
